In Action
Members of the team can be found competing in various dog sports around the country. For a small team, we do very well; from a top winner in Obedience at Crufts, to Scottish Agility Dog of the Year, from titled Schutzhund dogs to consistently successful obedience and agility winners.

Here Nik shows us how to apprehend a hiding "criminal" and hold him at bay, in the sport of Schutzhund. Literally translated from German it means Protection Dog. However, it's much more than that. The three phases of the trial tests and evaluates a dog’s mental stability, endurance, scentwork, physical soundness, work ethic, courage, and trainability.
For more details on Schutzhund visit the
Fife Schutzhund Club site.

The team like to actively promote responsible dog ownership and a few of our members can be seen here endorsing Clackmannanshire Council's "Bag It and Bin It" campaign.

And this is a rare photo from the archives. Eric showing the reason why he never did make it as a jockey!
Getting Started with Auchinlay Agility

Do you think you'd like to try your hand at agility then?
Well, the first step would be to come along to our open obedience class:
Tuesday 7.30pm, Cochrane Hall, West Stirling Street, Alva FK12 5LJ.
Training is available for all levels.

If you want to join in, then bring some treats/a toy, wear soft shoes and don't forget your sense of humour! Or if you prefer you can come along without your dog just to get a feel for it all.

Members of the agility team come up from the obedience training (and continue to attend usually), as a good basic level of control is important for agility. You can't drive a car without learning how to work the accelerator, gears and brakes first!
Below are some images from our obedience training class. As you can see all the dogs are in close proximity and happy to be there. This is one of the main aspects of basic obedience training - to keep dogs sociable and ensure they're good citizens within the community! It also helps maintain the control and teamwork required between dog and handler for agility.
In addition, some of the members participate in competitive obedience.
